Counting the days down to Christmas

Alley has been carefully counting the days down to Christmas - with the help of a cool quilted advent calendar that Grandma Erlys made. Of course each day, Claire and her get a Starburst out of the little pockets to get them excited about the big day.

Graham cracker house competition

Here's Rob pretty happy with his deluxe house - it comes with a chimney, dormer, and stairs up to the front door.
Alley opted for a flat roof house - but made it festive with lots of sprinkles.

Mmmm... Gingerbread cookies

Light statue

Alley got this light wand from Grandpa Charlie at the Hollidazzle parade after Thanksgiving. She kept calling it the "light statue" - maybe like the statue of liberty? It eventually became the "holiday light".
Alley said she was excited to see Santa Claus at the Hollidazzle parade - but then the next morning she wouldn't even look at Santa at Macy's when we all took a picture with him.

Halloween

Finished Pumpkin

Ready to Trick Or Treat

Happy Halloween

Alley made a card for Rob that Grandma Erlys helped her with.
Alley's signature on the card - nice effort, but there seems to be something wrong with it.

Our green pumpkins that we grew from our own garden (weren't quite ripe before the first frost). Alley helped me get all the seeds out to roast and she helped draw faces on the pumpkins before Rob carved them.

Alley stole my camera at the school costume party and took a self protrait.

Alley as Lightning McQeen, at the school costume party - who is a "very famous racecar" she explains. Just to make the look complete she got the Thomas the Train tatoo at the party - our little tomboy!

"I'm sick" - said in the saddest voice

Alley has been pretty sweet and grown up the last few days, as she is dealing with an "Influenza like Illness" - which likely is H1N1. She has had a fever, headache, cough, and is very willing to take a nap for go to bed at night (which is unusual for her).

This morning she woke up and still had a fever and complained of a headache. I told her I was going to get her some medicine (tylenol) and she said "I don't need medicine it will get better on its own". But of course a few minutes later, she asked for medicine and then for a drink of water. After I got her a drink of water, she said "Thank you Mom for your work."

I stinks to see her sick - but at least she is polite about it.

Napping

Don't they look like sisters? Two beds and they both prefer the hard
wood floor
