Road Trip

This weekend the girls (Alley and her mom) took a road trip to Fargo. Her Grandma Erlys was in Fargo, so enjoyed babysitting Alley, as I got to see some girlfriends. Sunday we went to visit her Grandpa Alley at his lake place. She got out on the water for the first time on Grandpa's boat and even got to"pet" a fish he caught. We then went to the beach where she was very content to sit in the shallow water and watch all the other kids.

A day in the sun

We had a great afternoon at St Louis Park's annual city celebration. Alley slept through the parade last year, but seemed to really like it this year and waved to people on the floats as they went by. We then went to a petting zoo where she got swarmed by goats. She was a little timid to actually pet them. It was a hot one today, but still good to be outside.

We pushed our luck though this evening, we tried to go to a drive-in movie. We thought that she would fall asleep either in her carseat or we could fold down the seats and sleep in the back - that of course didn't happen. The little stinker stayed up until 11:00 and whimpered a lot - so we eventually went home.

Aunt Elizabeth

Alley's aunt Elizabeth came to visit and hung out with Alley for the day earlier in the week. She spoiled her and went on a shopping spree for cute outfits (don't worry I was assured they were good deals that couldn't be passed up).

Alley's first week as an "official" toddler

Alley has moved over to the toddler room at daycare from infants. We really loved her last caregivers - so it was hard for us to see her move. By all reports she is doing well in her new room. They keep them pretty active. The first day they had a "guest speaker" who brought in reptiles and Alley got to pet a snake. They have a set schedule of snacks, going outside everyday and naptime. She actually sleeps on a cot and apparently stays there. We are feeling the effects of only one nap a day though. She seems to melt down for no reason at night from being overly tired, then she'll have a burst of energy where she runs around and then crashes again - but doesn't seem to have the most restful sleep - often waking up briefly or waking up too early in the morning. We hope that she will soon adjust.
