Fat Lip

Alley was washing dishes with her Dad when she slipped offthe chair last night. She must have bit her upper lip in the fall as she split the right side of her upper lip open. So Alley and I took our first trip to the emergency room. It took 4 hours just to get into the ER! I certainly have a new found appreciation for what patients endure. Alley was pretty good - as she got more tired she just got more wound up and used it to the run the hallways. At about 11:30 we finally went back. She ended up getting 4 stiches in her lip. They numbed her up good - so I don't think she felt any pain but screamed the whole time the doctor was working on her - I assume from just being scared. She finally fell asleep around 1:45 and we eventually got home a 2:30. Now she has a fat lip - but it doesn't bother her too much. It is suppose to heal up nicely without any significant scare - I guess we can hope at least.

2nd Birthday

Alley had a "puppy" theme for her second birthday party. Her grandparents and Mason and Madison were here for the big party. She of course had cake - which she talked about all day and then didn't eat much of it except the frosting.
She got a lot of fun gifts, new blocks from her grandparents Charlie and Helen and sock monkey from Grandma Erlys, more Noah's ark animals from Uncle Gregg, a video from Grandpa Alley, plastic fruit for her kitchen from Mason and Madison and 100s of stickers from various people.

She also got a RadioFlyer wagon that her and Claire can use this summer.

Sledding

Alley went sledding with her cousins Mason and Madison. Alley seemed to have a good time up until she wanted her mittens off and then fell into the snow, covering her hands with the cold snow. She was unconsolable after that and we had to go home.

Alley continues to be a chatter box. She sings the ABCs fairly well - when she gets to TUV though she says T.V. and then points to the T.V. She also can count to 10 pretty well. She definetly has interest in using the toilet- but never really does anything when she gets there. Today she attempted again without any success- so I left her standing in the bathroom while I got a new diaper. When I came back she had peed on the floor. I could have been mad- but she announced in a perfect sentence that "Alley peed on the floor". I couldn't help but laugh and oddly feel proud of her language skills.
