This is the view from our hotel in Kona. It was a beautiful resort with dolphins and a lagoon open the ocean where Alley swam with a sea turtle and saw eels and Hawaii's state fish the humuhumunukunukuapua'a

Hawaii the big island - has many contrasting environments - from the volcano to deserts of old lava to jungles and waterfalls to snow on Mount Kea.

We are at the summit of the volcano on the big island and steam vents are all around us.

Doing the hula

Actually I think Alley is doing her own dance - but we did learn to hula at the luau we attended. It was at a beautiful location overlooking the ocean with green cliffs behind us.
